Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute Blue Bombers girls' hockey team wins WOSSAA bronze

The Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute Blue Bombers girls' hockey team capped their season with a bronze medal at WOSSAA 'A/AA' finals Tuesday in London at Stronach Arena.

The Blue Bombers defeated London's South Collegiate Institute 5-0 to claim the bronze after they fell 4-2 in the semifinals to the eventual gold medal winning Clinton's St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School. The semifinals saw St. Anne's take a 3-0 lead, but Lindsay Bessegato and Tori Robles scored for Ingersoll to make it 3-2. St. Anne's notched an insurance goal, while Ingersoll pressured in the final minutes of the game to nearly complete the comeback.

The bronze is the third consecutive WOSSAA medal for IDCI in girls hockey and the fourth in five years with two silvers and two bronzes.

IDCI won the TVRA East Division with a perfect 7-0 record and posted a dominant 26 to 2 goals for to goals against average in the regular season. In the playoffs, they swept Tillsonburg's Glendale in two games in the semifinals then swept St. Thomas' Parkside Collegiate Institute in the TVRA Southeast Division finals.
